About our camp
Camp Save-a-Watt is PEC’s free, virtual summer camp developed and put on by our experts for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Through hands-on weekly lessons, students learn about energy conservation, nature, and electrical safety. The program focuses on teaching youth about the importance of saving energy in everyday life, both at home and at school. With the help of parents and teachers, Camp Save-a-Watt can help our youngest members learn important tips to reduce their energy use and help schools and parents save money. The virtual camp also features in-person events, like our famous Solar Car Derby and the chance to meet a lineworker and Wattson Raccoon! See more about 2025’s summer’s camp!
2026 registration opens in April!
Camp Save-a-Watt is PEC’s free, virtual summer camp developed for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. During the eight-week camp, students can access weekly educational videos, mini-lessons, crafts, and activities to learn more about energy conservation and electrical safety. Alongside parents and teachers, PEC’s Camp Save-a-Watt can help teach students habits that help save energy and money for their families and schools.
The virtual camp also features in-person events with Wattson the Raccoon:
- Meet a Lineworker – Learn about careers in linework, try on safety gear, and see PEC crews in action on a bucket truck.
- Solar Car Derby – Participants will build and race their own solar car while enjoying other kid-friendly activities. Register now!
- Egg Drop Challenges – A STEAM challenge where participants build contraptions to protect an egg and can test the effectiveness of their design as it drops from a PEC bucket truck.
