Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is the nation’s largest distribution electric cooperative headquartered in Johnson City, Texas. PEC serves safe, reliable, low-cost electricity to more than one million Texans in the Texas Hill Country and areas north and south of Austin. PEC’s service area covers 8,100 square miles and includes more than 26,000 miles of distribution lines and 315 miles of transmission lines. Established in 1938, PEC is a nonprofit owned by its membership and governed by a locally elected Board of Directors.
