Crews responding to outages across the Texas Hill Country
Pedernales Electric Cooperative crews are responding to multiple power outages across our service area. Significant ice has accumulated in the Texas Hill Country. We’ve had crews ready and positioned to respond since the beginning of this weather event, and they’ve been working around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Our operations control center is monitoring our system 24/7. Agents in our call center are supporting our members by phone.
Members can also report outages through PEC SmartHub, by calling our outage line 888-883-3379, or by texting “OUTAGE” to 25022. We ask for patience as our crews continue to respond as quickly and safely as possible. Some outages may require extensive repairs and could take several hours. While restoring our members’ power is our top priority, we do recommend having an emergency plan in case of an extended outage. PEC cannot guarantee uninterrupted power. Remember these important winter storm safety tips:
- If you see a downed line, move away from the line and anything touching it. Call 911 immediately to report a downed line or our emergency report line at: 888-883-3379.
- Don’t use your stove or oven for heat. Gas stoves and ovens produce carbon monoxide, and electric ones pose a fire risk when not used as designed. Don’t run your car in the garage as a way of warming up.
- Only run the car outside, and before you start it, make sure that the exhaust pipe is clear of snow and debris. Taking these steps could save you and your family from carbon monoxide poisoning. Never run a generator closer than 20 feet from doors and windows to prevent fumes from entering the home.
