Look Below for a Fun Holiday Treat Recipe
This Thanksgiving, be sure to keep safety in mind when cooking your holiday feast. It’s important to exercise caution around ovens and other cooking appliances.
Don’t leave the kitchen unattended while you’re cooking
Do not leave food cooking unattended. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, this is a leading cause of kitchen fires. And cooking fires tend to happen more often around the holidays.
Don’t forget the oven mitts
To avoid burns, put on oven mitts when taking items off the stove or out of the oven. Use your oven’s back burners when possible to keep grease splashes and boiling liquids off your body.
Move potentially flammable items away from sources of heat
For your safety, move items like potholders, oven mitts, food packaging, towels, or paper away from stove tops, ovens, or other heat sources.
Teach little helpers about kitchen safety
It can be fun to let kids help out, but before you do, teach them about kitchen safety. If you’re teaching kids how to cook with the stove and oven, provide careful supervision.
