PEC Hosts Junction Membership Dinner

Cooperative Celebrates Western Service Area

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(JUNCTION, Texas) September 12, 2024 — Pedernales Electric Cooperative hosted a dinner for its Junction membership September 11, at the Coke R. Stevenson Memorial Building. PEC board members, executives, and staff met with city leaders, and community members to celebrate the cooperative difference and the Junction community. More than 120 attended the dinner where PEC also provided a business presentation on its history in Junction, recent accomplishments, and a look ahead.

Two PEC board directors represent areas in and around Junction — District 5 Director James Oakley whose district encompasses areas north of I-10, including Junction, Roosevelt, and Menard — and District 6 Director Paul Graf who represents areas south of I-10 in Junction, Segovia, and Rock Springs. Both recognized those in attendance at the dinner and thanked them for their membership.

Graf emphasized the beauty of belonging to a cooperative saying, “We don’t just provide electric service, we take pride in powering our communities and making a difference in our members’ lives. We’re here to serve you, and it’s wonderful to see so many of you here tonight taking part in your cooperative.”

PEC acquired Junction from Kimble Electric Cooperative in 2000. Today, the Junction district has grown to reach nearly 9,600 meters and 40 employees. In her update to PEC members, CEO Julie C. Parsley shared some of the many milestones the cooperative celebrated over the past year, including PEC’s 85th anniversary, taking over operational control of transmission assets, and installing its 400,000th meter.

Parsley said, “No place is more beautiful than Junction in the fall and this dinner is a special opportunity for us to visit and meet with you — our members.” She said, “Our hard work and stewardship to maintain reliability, affordability, and safety continue and I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made together as a cooperative.”
