Have a safe and happy holiday season

Keep electrical safety in mind this holiday season

At a time when we’re with family and doing all of our favorite seasonal activities, safety can sometimes be the last thing on our minds around the holiday season.

And while it’s great to forget about the little things while celebrating this time of year, it’s still important to be safe around all those lights, power cords, Christmas trees, and cooking appliances. Keep these tips in mind to ensure a safe, jolly season.

  • Plug your exterior decorations into ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) to prevent electric shock.
  • Don’t stretch cords or lights across walkways, driveways, or bodies of water.
  • Avoid plugging too many decorations into extension cords or circuits.
  • Don’t leave goods baking in the oven or cooking on the stove unattended.
  • When decorating the tree, look for and replace frayed cords or loose bulb connections.
