PEC Employees and Members Donate $10,000 to Dell Children’s Foundation

Cooperative’s Total Donations Since 1996 Reach Nearly $100,000

(AUSTIN, Texas) August 23, 2024 — Together, Pedernales Electric Cooperative employees and their members recently donated $10,000 to the Dell Children’s Medical Center Foundation. The latest contribution brings PEC’s total giving to DCMC Foundation since 1996 to nearly $100,000. Funds came from a combination of PEC’s United Charities, where employees contribute a portion of their pay each month, and from PEC’s Employee Giving Corporate Matching Program funded through PEC’s Power of Change, where members enrolled round their bills to the nearest dollar for charity.

“Caring for our community is core to PEC and it is our pleasure to support Dell Children’s in its mission to improve the lives and health of Central Texas children,” said Celeste Mikeska PEC Community Relations Manager. “This gift exemplifies our cooperative spirit by showing that when we all give a little, we can make a significant impact — and we hope to inspire even more members and employees to experience the joy of giving back.”

Donations to DCMC Foundation help fund medical care, research and education, and programs for Central Texas pediatric patients and their families.

“Partners like Pedernales Electric Cooperative truly embody what it means for a community to come together for an important cause, engaging their employees to give in support of Dell Children’s as well as offering a way for their members to round up their bills, said Megan Campuzano, Senior Director of Annual Giving, Dell Children’s Foundation. “We are grateful for their partnership to help ensure that Dell Children’s can provide world class care for families, right here at home.”

PEC’s United Charities is a nonprofit corporation operated and managed by PEC employees to benefit other nonprofit organizations. In June, PEC’s United Charities provided more than $294,000 to nearly 263 charities across Texas and the nation. Since 2016, PEC through its Community Support Policy funded in part through the Power of Change program has donated more than half a million dollars to nonprofits across the Texas Hill Country. For an average of less than $6 per year, PEC members can join the Power of Change program to make a difference. Members interested in the program can learn more and enroll at pec.coop/change, by calling our member relations agents during business hours at 888-554-4732, or by logging into their SmartHub account online.
