(SPRING BRANCH, Texas) August 30, 2026 — This morning, Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) responded to a request for mutual aid from CPS Energy in San Antonio, sending 50 lineworkers and support staff to provide assistance following a strong storm that caused significant damage Friday night. At the height of the storm, CPS estimates as many as 100,000 of its customers lost power. PEC crews will be working as quickly and safely as possible alongside CPS crews to help restore power and will remain in the area as long as they are needed.
“As a neighboring utility we understand the tremendous amount of work required to restore power after an event like this,” said PEC CEO Christian Powell. “We’re grateful to have received assistance from other electric cooperatives and utilities when we’ve needed it most and I’m proud of our crews for stepping up to help restore power for our neighbors in San Antonio.”
“As an electric co-op we are deeply rooted in community and our crews will be working passionately to get the lights back on for those affected,” Powell said.
