Awards of up to $1,000; Deadline to Apply is September 7

(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) July 20, 2026 — With a new school year on the horizon, Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is launching Educational Spotlight Grants to help teachers fund dynamic programs for their classrooms. PEC cares for its communities and believes that supporting area educators with the resources they need can turn creative classroom ideas into meaningful learning experiences that benefit students and strengthen communities. PEC will award up to $10,000 in grants annually through the new program.
Approximately 10 grants of $500 and five grants of $1,000 will be awarded for qualified projects.
“It’s important to listen to the ideas our teachers have and to support them in bringing those dreams to life,” said PEC Community Outreach Specialist Kevyn Packer. “We hope that by investing even a small amount, we can make significant change to enhance student learning and our communities for years to come.”
Applications are now open on PEC’s website through September 7, and winners will be announced in October. To be eligible for a PEC Educational Spotlight Grant, kindergarten through eighth-grade teachers must work in one of the communities within the cooperative’s service area. Grants can be used for classroom supplies and materials needed for specific projects and instructional resources, including field trips.
PEC’s Educational Spotlight Grants are funded by the generosity of members enrolled in the cooperative’s Power of Change Program. Through the program, members can opt to round their bill to the nearest dollar each month to help support nonprofits, educational opportunities in the classroom, and provide financial bill assistance to qualifying PEC members in need. Members interested in supporting teachers can enroll in PEC’s Power of Change Program online.
