Just as PEC prepares year-round for winter weather events, we’re also committed to educating our members and communities on how to stay safe during emergencies. This fall, PEC experts hit the road to share important readiness tips and information with our members at senior centers in Kyle, Marble Falls, and Cedar Park.
Along with helping our senior members sign up for text alerts and update their account information, energy advisors shared conservation tips to help members save on electric bills this winter. Vegetation maintenance staff advised members of free tree-trimming services provided by PEC. Our experts helped members learn to build emergency kits, too.
“The weather in Central Texas can change from one day to the next, especially during the winter months,” said PEC External Relations Representative Beth Koennecke. “Our goal is to ensure that we equip our most vulnerable members with the tools, tips, and energy-efficiency knowledge they need to stay safe and comfortable this winter.”
In addition to working with our senior citizens, we also hosted Power Connection events at our Safety and Technical Training Center in Marble Falls, where we gave local government officials and first responders a behind-the-scenes look at how we respond to outages. Attendees got to meet PEC staff, learn about the main causes of outages, and see equipment and staff in action. Guests even had the opportunity to simulate closing a fuse on a power pole.
