Save on What Will Save You Energy

ENERGY STAR® Sales Tax Holiday Runs May 24-26

If you’re in the market for new appliances, Memorial Day weekend is your chance to shop and save. On top of typical Memorial Day sales, ENERGY STAR® items will be tax-free May 24-26.

Appliances with the ENERGY STAR logo can help save you as much as $100 per year on energy costs, so this is your chance to save on what will save you money in the long run. Below are a few items you can find that will be tax-free this weekend:

  • Air conditioners (with a sales price of $6,000 or less)
  • Refrigerators (with a sales price of $2,000 or less)
  • Ceiling fans
  • Incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs
  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers
  • Dehumidifiers

Water heaters, clothes dryers, freezers, stoves, attic fans, heat pumps, wine refrigerators, kegerators, and beverage chillers are not eligible for the tax-free promotion, even if they are ENERGY STAR certified.

As the years have gone on, appliances have become much more efficient than what people were using 25 years ago. Compared to older models, these ENERGY STAR-certified products can save you between 10% and 40% on energy usage.

Please note: For air conditioners and refrigerators, additional costs like delivery and shipping charges are considered part of the sales price.
