Register kids for PEC’s Camp Save-a-Watt through May 31

Free online summer camp for elementary school students

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(JOHNSON CITY, Texas — April 17, 2024) Pedernales Electric Cooperative is committed to delivering safe, reliable power and caring for its members and communities. As part of this commitment, PEC provides a variety of youth programs to help create a bright future for the next generation of members. One example is PEC’s Camp Save-a-Watt™, a free online summer camp for students entering kindergarten through fifth grade. The camp teaches energy conservation and electrical safety tips through a variety of fun lessons designed by PEC experts. Registration for the camp is open now through May 31 and camp begins June 3.

“We’re thrilled to show what we have in store for Camp Save-a-Watt in 2024,” said Community Relations Manager Celeste Mikeska. “The camp continues to grow in participation year after year and we are thankful to provide a platform for young students to learn about energy and to help inspire tomorrow’s leaders.”

Campers have the opportunity to learn at their own pace — participating in weekly activities alongside camp mascot Wattson Racoon and friends. This year, PEC is adding new content and activities to help campers learn about topics first-hand. Campers will also have the chance to attend PEC’s third annual Solar Derby Day, June 28 at 10 a.m. in Marble Falls. There, kids will have the opportunity to build, design, test, and race their own solar car.

With the help of parents and teachers, Camp Save-a-Watt can help students learn how to reduce their energy use at home and at school. Parents who register by May 15 will receive a free Camp Save-a-Watt T-shirt. Learn more and register online at pec.coop/camp.
