Prepare Yourself for Winter Weather

Stay Safe and Ready

With winter on the horizon, stay prepared and safe with tips from PEC.

Winter weather is in the forecast across PEC’s service area for Friday through Sunday. Some forecasts are predicting precipitation and temperatures below freezing for more than 48 hours. While we work daily to ensure your lights stay on regardless of the weather, some outages are unavoidable. If your power goes out, our crews will stand ready to restore it safely and as quickly as possible, but there are steps you can take as well.

What you can do to stay prepared:

For more information, see our power outage FAQ page.

To help keep your costs low, follow these tips:

  • Set your thermostat to 68 degrees or lower, and lower it another 3 degrees when you’re not home.
  • Track your daily energy use with our Usage Explorer tool, available when you log in to your account online. The dashboard gives you an in-depth look at monthly, daily, and hourly use, so you can make simple adjustments to save energy.
  • If you have any open spaces around windows or doors, seal them with caulk and weatherstripping.
  • Ahead of this weekend, make sure your heating system is working properly and change your air filter if it’s dirty.
