PEC’s new Teacher Spotlight Award seeks to shine a light on local educators

Nominate a teacher by April 30

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) April 3, 2024 — Rooted in community, Pedernales Electric Cooperative invests in an array of educational programs to help brighten classrooms and communities across the Texas Hill Country. Today, PEC announced a new Teacher Spotlight Award — intended to recognize the incredible work teachers do in their classrooms and their communities. PEC is accepting nominations for its first Teacher Spotlight Award through April 30 and encourages members to fill out the form online.

“Each of us knows a teacher who showed us they cared, who believed in us, and who made a difference in our lives,” said Kevyn Packer PEC Community Outreach Specialist. “This award is about thanking those teachers who inspire future generations to be their best selves and who lift our communities in extraordinary ways.”

PEC’s Teacher Spotlight Award will take place bi-annually, in the spring and in the fall. From the nominations received, PEC will select teachers from across the co-op’s service territory to receive awards. This round’s winners will be announced in May and PEC will visit the teachers at their schools to present them with a thank-you basket of materials to support classroom learning.

“We’re proud to highlight those teachers who go above and beyond in shaping the minds and hearts of our future generations,” Packer said.

Members can learn more details and nominate a teacher by visiting pec.coop/youth-programs.
