(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) October 24, 2025 — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) announced Cedar Park Councilwoman Anne Duffy as the winner of its new Community Transformer Award, which recognizes individuals for making remarkable contributions to their community. She is the first recipient of the new award. PEC recognized Duffy at its October Board of Directors meeting in Johnson City on Oct. 24, and the Cooperative is working with the City of Cedar Park to dedicate and install a bench at the Cedar Park Public Library in her honor.

“I’m truly honored and excited to be selected as the first PEC Community Transformer, Duffy said. “Being recognized for serving others is both humbling and deeply meaningful. Service and leadership are not just things I do—they’re part of who I am. Giving back to my community, supporting our schools, and standing up for the most vulnerable brings me purpose and joy every day.  This recognition truly reaffirms my passion for helping others.”

Duffy works as a nurse leader and has won awards for her work and volunteer service. She has served as a City Council member since 2017 and is an active member of many nonprofit organizations in Cedar Park and Williamson County. She is a U.S. Navy veteran, where she served in many capacities.

“We’re delighted to honor Ms. Duffy for her dedication and positive impact in Cedar Park,” said PEC External Relations Representative Jared Fields. “Her commitment to improving the community has elevated nonprofit work and enhanced the city’s economic development success. She has had a hand in nearly every aspect of transforming Cedar Park into the vibrant community it is today.”

One of Duffy’s nominees called her a compassionate leader, driven to impact change in her community, assist others, and amplify nonprofits and new businesses. Duffy was selected from dozens of nominations by a panel that based the selection on who best met and reflected the qualities of a community champion. For over 85 years, PEC has played a vital role in transforming the Texas Hill Country into a thriving economic landscape. The region has seen incredible growth and prosperity thanks to the hard work of community leaders, and PEC is proud to pay tribute to their service.
