PEC Launches Learn, Empower, Develop Program for High School Students

Co-op Provides Resources for Resume Building, Career Information

As part of its commitment to keep communities strong and bright, Pedernales Electric Cooperative is investing in the future of students across its service territory. In addition to granting scholarships and supporting education foundations, providing Youth Tour, and Camp Save-a-Watt, PEC is launching a new program to help high school students prepare for the next chapter in their lives. Whether young adults are graduating high school, looking for a summer job, or seeking an internship, PEC’s new Learn, Empower, Develop (LED) program aims to provide students in grades 9-12 with resources to build strong resumes and improve their professionalism.

“We wanted to create a tool that’s practical, flexible, and truly helpful for all high school students,” Community Outreach Specialist Mikayla Herron. “Whether they’re prepping for college applications, scholarships, or jumping straight into the workforce, it gives them a strong foundation.”

Through a video podcast series, PEC’s LED program offers tips to help students build the skills needed for entering the workforce. Lessons include resume basics, formatting and structure, crafting a standout resume, and how to tailor a resume. The information is designed to help young adults market their strengths and accomplish their goals.

PEC plans to continue adding content to its LED program to build a library of resources over the coming months. High school students and educators can find resources and learn more at myPEC.com/LED.
