PEC Invites Members to Thank a Lineworker

Messages to Help Celebrate National Lineman Appreciation Day

(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) April 15, 2026 — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is proud to power more than a million Central Texans in some of the nation’s fastest-growing cities and counties. To show appreciation to the crews who keep the lights on for our communities, PEC invites members to send thank-you notes ahead of National Lineman Appreciation Day on April 18. Members interested in thanking a lineworker can complete this online form during the month of April or anytime. PEC will share your messages with lineworkers across its service area.

“For our crews, linework is not just a job, but a lifestyle,” said PEC Chief Operations Officer of Distribution Nathan Fulmer. “They’re committed to working safely and efficiently for our members 24/7 and in all types of weather. We’re grateful for the dedication our lineworkers give to their craft and their community, and we want them to know how much they’re appreciated.”

PEC lineworkers help maintain more than 26,000 miles of distribution line and 300 miles of transmission line across a rugged 8,100 square-mile service area. To highlight a day in the life of a lineworker, PEC followed Journeyworker Heath Finton. Watch the video here.

“It takes a lot of training, it takes years,” Finton said. “A lot of people don’t know that back story. We take care of all the service work, overhead and underground and troubleshooting a lot of stuff. The hours can be long, but when you can get things taken care of and make the community better as a whole, that’s the best part,” he said.

PEC is also active in building and training the next generation of lineworkers. The cooperative’s investments include:

  • Department-of-Labor-Certified Training Program: PEC’s lineworkers undergo a rigorous 8,000-hour program that prepares its apprentices to become certified journeyworkers.
  • PEC’s Safety and Technical Training Center: The cooperative’s dedicated training facility in Marble Falls offers PEC lineworkers exceptional hands on training close to home.
  • Annual Award Recognition: PEC honors its apprentices annually for their dedication, leadership, technical skills, and community service.
  • Pre-Apprenticeship Program: PEC’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program provides a pathway for local high school graduates interested in linework to learn more about the trade and determine if a career in linework is right for them. Those selected for the program have the potential to earn a paid position as a PEC as a lineworker apprentice 1A and begin their journey toward reaching the highest level of linework as a journeyworker.

Robust employee development and training helps ensure PEC recruits and retains the best lineworkers in the industry. For information about pursuing a career in linework with PEC, visit myPEC.com/careers
