PEC Employees Donate Thousands of School Supplies for Central Texas Students

(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) August 15, 2025 — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) employees donated nearly 2,500 school supplies to benefit students across its service area which now serves more than 430,000 members. PEC employees delivered the items to nearly a dozen schools this week as part of the cooperative’s fifth annual “Fill the Bucket” back to school campaign.

“Our employees have generously stepped up each year to fill classrooms across our service area with the supplies they need for productive learning,” said Celeste Mikeska, PEC community relations manager. “It’s our pleasure to invest in the next generation of Central Texans who may also become future PEC employees.”

The following schools received donated supplies:

  • Bertram Elementary School (Burnet CISD)
  • Blanco Elementary School (Blanco ISD)
  • Giddens Elementary School (Leander ISD)
  • Highland Lakes Elementary School  (Marble Falls ISD)
  • Junction Elementary School (Junction ISD)
  • Hanna Springs Elementary School (Lampasas ISD)
  • LBJ Elementary School (Johnson City ISD)
  • Louine Noble Elementary School (Liberty Hill ISD)
  • Menchaca Elementary School (Austin ISD)
  • Rebecca Creek Elementary School (Comal ISD)
  • Tom Green Elementary School (Hays CISD)

Emily Lancaster, LBJ Elementary School Principal said, “Being new to the community, it is a blessing to collaborate with a Johnson City school partner like PEC. Our students will have everything they need to start the school year thanks to the generosity of PEC. We are grateful and look forward to continued opportunities to work together for our students.”

PEC also provides a variety of free educational programs to parents, teachers, and students of all ages, including online resources and lessons on electrical safety and energy conservation, power restoration demonstrations from PEC lineworkers, and information on careers in linework.
