Event to Provide One-Stop-Shop for Emergency Readiness
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(MARBLE FALLS, Texas) February 24, 2025 — In a commitment to safety and caring for its members and communities, Pedernales Electric Cooperative is partnering with the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office and Office of Emergency Management to host a first-of-its-kind community preparedness fair, called “Ready as One”. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at Marble Falls High School — 2101 Mustang Drive. The free, family-friendly fair will provide Burnet County residents an opportunity to connect with local organizations, learn about community resources, and prepare for emergencies.
“PEC’s history is built upon bringing people together to improve our communities and we’re delighted to connect our members with important resources to stay strong and prepared for whatever the next big event brings,” said Beth Koennecke PEC external relations representative. “We know that the work we put in today will help keep our communities strong and resilient tomorrow.”
“Ready as One” will serve as a one-stop shop for emergency preparedness where residents can meet and engage with emergency personnel, PEC lineworkers, and experts from groups across Central Texas and Burnet County. State and local organizations will also be on site to answer questions, provide important information, and safety demonstrations. In addition, families can enjoy:
- Educational Activities: Bucket truck demonstrations and hands-on power restoration simulations with PEC’s lineworker crews. Learn about services and resources available in your community through a variety of nonprofits and area organizations — including housing assistance, job training, summer programs for children, and more.
- Food: Enjoy one free Kona Ice per person courtesy of PEC. Mrs. Vickie’s Food Truck will have food and drinks for sale and Numinous Coffee will have coffee, lemonade, and pastries available for purchase.
- Fun: Meet and take photos with PEC’s mascot, “Wattson Racoon” and the National Fire Protection Association’s “Sparky the Fire Dog”. A bounce house will also be available for kids.
- Giving Back: In the spirit of helping our neighbors in need, bring a canned food item or two to support a food drive for The Helping Center of Marble Falls. The Baylor Scott & WhiteBlood Center will also be hosting a mobile blood drive and is offering free blood type testing. Click here to register.
