FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(MARBLE FALLS, Texas) April 21, 2026 — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) and Burnet County held its second-annual Ready as One community preparedness fair at Marble Falls Middle School on April 18. Attendees participated in the event to learn how to prepare for an emergency and connect with local organizations.
The fair provided important safety information and gave residents the opportunity to meet and engage with first responders, PEC lineworkers, and experts from across Central Texas and Burnet County. PEC crews also provided hands-on power restoration simulations and bucket truck demonstrations for families.
PEC’s mascot, Wattson Racoon, also made an appearance at the event, posing for photos with kids and handing out educational trading cards, high fives, and fist-bumps.
PEC prepares year-round for all types of emergencies. Central Texas has experienced many weather emergencies, from winter storms and wildfires to flash flooding and tornados. In 2025, Burnet County was hit hard with severe rain and flash flooding that devastated the area. PEC hopes Ready as One will provide members in Burnet County a better understanding of what to do before, during, and after an emergency.
