Large Load Connection Process and Fees

Applicants seeking interconnection within PEC’s service territory of new or increased electrical demand of one (1) megawatt (MW) or more require additional processing by PEC and are subject to fees set forth below. For purposes of assessing fees, PEC categorizes these loads by size (requested demand) and connection type (voltage) to determine the applicable process, study requirements, and associated fees.

The above fees are non-refundable, and payments will be collected in advance of PEC commencing work on the interconnection request. Amounts denoted above as “By Agreement” will be specified in an agreement between PEC and the applicant. PEC reserves the right to amend this fee schedule at any time and may assess other fees at its discretion based on project details and the capabilities of existing infrastructure. The above fees are in addition to costs for facility upgrades identified by PEC that are determined to be the responsibility of the applicant.

Projects requesting distribution-level service for increased electrical demand of 5MW or less, as well as requests for service above 5MW but less than 25MW that PEC classifies, in its discretion, as standard, will be governed by PEC’s facility extension process outlined in Sections 400.4 and 400.5 of PEC’s Tariff and Business and Rules.

Requests for service above 5MW but less than 25MW that PEC classifies, in its discretion, as non-standard (such as in cases where non-standard facility upgrades are needed to serve the load) will be required to enter into a project-specific agreement with PEC, as set forth in Sections 400.4 and 400.5 of PEC’s Tariff and Business Rules.

Applicants seeking interconnection within PEC’s service territory of new or increased electrical demand of more than 25 MW should contact the PEC Commercial & Industrial Accounts Team at [email protected].
