More than 250 attended free community event at Schreiner Park
(JUNCTION, Texas) Oct. 7, 2026 — More than 250 community members attended Junction’s National Night Out, Oct. 6 in Schreiner Park. Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) partnered with the Junction Police Department, who hosted the event. It provided the public an opportunity to meet and visit with first responders and PEC staff to learn about emergency preparedness and response.
“We’d like to thank the Junction Police Department for putting on this important community event in honor of National Night Out and for inviting us to be part of it,” said Beth Koennecke PEC External Relations Representative. “This was an invaluable opportunity to engage with our Junction members, to share about our efforts, and team up with those who respond before, during, and after an emergency.”
PEC provided a catered barbecue dinner for members where they ate together and mingled with staff from the co-op’s Junction district. Those who attended interacted with PEC lineworkers, explored a utility bucket truck, and learned how to build an emergency kit.
“We’re grateful that this event opened doors for us to partner with PEC to foster new partnerships, share safety information, and build trust within the community,” said Junction Police Chief Rudy Supak. “We had a tremendous turnout and the feedback was excellent. We want to thank everyone who came out and we look forward to hosting this again next year.”
As a nonprofit electric co-op, PEC is committed to caring for its members and communities and meeting members where they are. This event is one of several member appreciation events planned for 2026.
