Total of $24,000 provided through co-op’s Power of Change round-up program
(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) Sept. 28, 2026 — As a nonprofit electric cooperative, Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is committed to supporting its members and communities. Today, PEC announced it provided $24,000 in donations to help area education foundations and local libraries across the co-op’s service area. Three libraries and 21 school districts received $1,000 checks to support areas students, teachers, schools, and youth programs in their communities.
Donations were made possible thanks to the generosity of PEC members participating in the co-op’s round up program, Power of Change. The cost for the average PEC member enrolled in the program is less than $6 per year. Recipients like the Marble Falls ISD Education Foundation depend on funds to help support educational experiences and innovation in the classroom.
“Thank you to PEC and its members for supporting us through your Power of Change program,” said Jeanne Jette, executive director of the Marble Falls ISD Education Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful for PEC’s continued investment in our local students and educators. Thank you for being such a valued community partner and for helping us elevate education for every student.”
PEC Community Outreach Specialist Kevyn Packer works closely with schools and education foundations.
Packer said, “It warms our hearts to lift our communities together with our members. The amount of good we can do just by rounding up our electric bills each month is incredible and proof of the co-op difference. We are so happy to help!”
Beth Cottingham, president of the Spicewood Community Library, says the library will use its funds to buy new books and expand the library’s youth program offerings in the coming year.
“As a small rural community library, we greatly appreciate your investment in our youth,” Cottingham said. “Thank you for supporting literacy, lifelong learning, and the children of our community. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the families who visit our library for years to come.”

Librarian Jessica Murray of the Oakalla Public Library said, “Through donations from organizations like PEC, we’re able to offer enriching and educational programs for our community, including story time, crafts, art classes, and community garden activities. When you support our rural library, you help ensure people of all ages have a welcoming, safe place to gather, learn, create, and connect,” Murray said. “We are incredibly grateful for PEC’s investment in our community and in the programs that make our library a special place to be.”
