More Than 3,200 Supplies Delivered to Schools Across PEC’s Service Area
This summer Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) employees collected more than 3,200 school supply donations to benefit students across the cooperative’s service area. PEC employees delivered the items to 11 schools this week as part of the cooperative’s Fill the Bucket, back-to-school campaign. This is the sixth year PEC has collected donations.
“School supplies are necessary tools that make it possible for every student to learn, create, and feel confident in the classroom,” said PEC Community Outreach Specialist Mikayla Herron. “We’re proud to invest in Central Texas students to keep our communities strong.”
The following schools received donated supplies as part of the campaign:
- Blanco Elementary School (Blanco ISD)
- Camino Real Elementary School (Hays CISD)
- Highland Lakes Elementary School (Marble Falls ISD)
- LBJ Elementary School (Johnson City ISD)
- Liberty Hill Elementary School (Liberty Hill ISD)
- Menard Elementary School (Menard ISD)
- Menchaca Elementary School (Austin ISD)
- Reed Elementary School (Leander ISD)
- Shady Grove Elementary School (Burnet CISD)
- Spicewood Elementary School (Marble Falls ISD)
- Startzville Elementary School (Comal ISD)
Blanco Elementary School Counselor Theresa Ricker said, “We are so grateful for PEC’s generous donation of school supplies. Their kindness and investment in our students will go a long way toward their learning and success. It sends an overall message to our students that our community believes in them, cares about them, and wants to see them succeed — support that can have a lifelong impact on a child.”
In addition to school supply donations, PEC provides a variety of free educational programs to parents, teachers, and students of all ages. For younger students, Camp Save-a-Watt offers online activities and lessons on electrical safety and energy conservation, along with fun in-person events like the popular Solar Car Derby. Career-focused activities for high school students include job-shadow days, demonstrations by PEC lineworkers, and information about careers in linework.
