Take Time to Trim the Trees This Planting Season
Spring is the perfect time to get your hands dirty digging in the ground, but don’t forget to look up as well! When making plans for your plants, it’s easy to overlook the impact they could have on your electric service.
We want your trees to flourish, so please remember that where you plant is just as important as when you plant. Before planting, consider the mature size of the selected tree species to avoid branches coming in contact with power lines. Never plant below power lines, and be sure to leave 10 feet of clearance in the front and 5 feet around the sides of pad-mounted transformers. Request free trimming from PEC
If any trees or limbs are within 10 feet of power lines or the service drop to your home, you can request free trimming from PEC. Never trim trees near electric lines or equipment yourself!
Follow these simple steps instead:
- Log in to your account or via the SmartHub app on your mobile device.
- Click ‘Request Services’ on the left menu bar. In the app, it can be found under ‘Contact Us’ in the drop-down menu.
- Select ‘Tree Trimming’ as your reason for inquiry, then select the account requiring service.
- Add comments detailing what needs to be trimmed and where.
