Minimal Outages Over the Weekend; PEC Urges Caution Around Utility Work Crews
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) January 26, 2026—Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s (PEC’s) system continues to perform well following this weekend’s winter weather.
“We want to thank our lineworkers who have been working around the clock in challenging weather conditions to keep the power on for our members,” said PEC’s Chief Operations Officer of Distribution Nathan Fulmer. “We’re proud of our crews and the planning and response leading up to and through this event.”
As crews continue to work in cold and hazardous conditions, PEC encourages members and the public to exercise caution on the road. If you see PEC crews working, remember to move over and slow down. Under Texas’ Move Over, Slow Down law, drivers must move out of the lane closest to the utility vehicle when possible, or slow down to 20 miles per hour below the posted speed limit.
Freezing temperatures are expected to hold steady across much of the Texas Hill Country Monday, with much of PEC’s service area projected to stay below freezing through Tuesday morning.
Members should report outages immediately by texting the word “outage” to 25022 from the mobile number associated with their PEC account. They can also report outages online at myPEC.com/outage,through SmartHub, or by calling 888-883-3379.
If you see a downed line, please stay far away from it and call 911 immediately.
PEC will continue to share updates on social media and online at mypec.com. Members can find information on staying prepared at mypec.com/prep and visit mypec.com/outage to view outage maps and find a one-stop-shop for outage needs.
