PEC Now Accepting Nominations for 2026 Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(JOHNSON CITY, Texas) January 16, 2026 —Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is accepting nomination petitions and applications for members who are interested in serving on PEC’s Board of Directors. PEC is member owned and governed by seven board directors who serve three-year terms with the option to run for reelection and serve up to four terms. This year’s election is for districts 2 and 3, which include parts of Williamson County and Western Travis County.

“PEC embraces what it means to be a cooperative and supports the democratic process of its board elections” said PEC’s General Counsel Andrea Stover. “Democratic member control is one of the seven cooperative principles, and PEC is pleased to provide a transparent and fair election process for its membership.”

Members who plan to run for the PEC board must meet the full list of criteria provided in Article III, Section 2 of PEC’s bylaws, which includes the following criteria:

  • Maintain a primary residence in the PEC board district in which they seek election and have received continuous electric service for at least one year. Members can confirm their district by looking in the upper right-hand corner of their electric bill.
  • Obtain original, verifiable signatures on the form provided by PEC from 50 PEC members who live in the nominee’s voting district or have a designated voting residence within that district.
  • Submit petition and application materials no later than March 20, 2026, at 5 p.m. All original materials must be delivered to the Election Team at PEC Headquarters, 201 S. Avenue F, Johnson City, Texas 78636.

Petition and application information is available on the PEC website. Materials include eligibility requirements, detailed instructions, an application, maps of PEC board districts, and forms for submitting background information and member signatures. Interested members may also request nomination materials by calling 830-868-4967 or emailing [email protected]

PEC’s Qualifications and Elections Committee, which is a member-led group, verifies candidate eligibility, and an independent, third-party handles the ballot processing and counts. Once petition signatures and qualifications are verified, PEC will announce the board director candidates. Members in districts 2 and 3 will be able to vote electronically through a link in SmartHub or by scanning a QR code which will be shared with members before voting begins or via paper ballots which will be mailed to them directly.

Election results will be announced June 16, 2026, and the newly elected directors will take their seats at the June 19, 2026 PEC Board of Directors meeting.
