Items raised by employees to benefit area schools
Pedernales Electric Cooperative is proud to help provide students and educators with the tools they need to get the school year off to a bright start. This week, PEC employees donated more than 2,500 school supplies to benefit schools across the co-op’s service territory.
“The success of our cooperative lies in the success of our communities,” said PEC Community Outreach Specialist Mikayla Herron. “Supporting local students is an investment in the future which we are proud to make.”
The following schools received donated supplies:
- Colt Elementary School (Marble Falls)
- Dripping Springs Elementary School
- Junction Elementary School
- Blanco Elementary School
- North Elementary School (Leander)
- Liberty Hill Elementary School
- LBJ Elementary School (Johnson City)
- Hemphill Elementary School (Kyle)
- Startzville Elementary School (Canyon Lake)
“We are so grateful that PEC supports our students,” Colt Elementary School Principal Melissa Fletcher said. “We have been fortunate to see PEC’s impact in our school district in a variety of ways over the years. These acts of service from our community help our students develop empathy, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility.”
This is the fourth year PEC employees have held the school supply drive and they plan to continue the tradition on an annual basis. PEC offers a variety of educational programs for area students — from free online resources to learn about electrical safety and conservation, to in-person opportunities to meet PEC lineworkers and learn about the tools they use.
